How Feed In Tariffs Work
This is the set rate which your electricity supplier pays you a monthly payment for each kWh of generated electricity for 25 years, whether you use it or export it.
This is an additional payment from your energy supplier for any electricity not used in the home that is exported to the grid.

Solar Hot Water Systems (sometimes called Solar Thermal Systems) convert light into heat, which in turn creates hot water for your home. A common misconception is that solar energy cannot work in the UK due to the climate; however, solar energy does not need bright sunshine or high temperatures to work effectively – it only needs daylight.
The Compound Parabolic Concentrator vacuum tube collectors capture and absorb the sun’s radiation.The heat from the tubes is then conducted to the fluid flowing through them. The hot fluid from the collector is circulated via flexible tubes by a pump through to a copper coil inside the insulated tank. The coil conducts the heat and the resulting hot water flows from the outlet valve. The hot water can then be delivered to wherever it is needed throughout the house.
Savings in CO2 emissions are very significant, around 7.5 tonnes a year when a wood-fuelled boiler replaces a coal system or electric storage heating. If you replace a gas heating system with a biomass system you might save £100 a year, but if you are replacing electric heating you could save as much as £580 per year. The government is due to launch it’s Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) in the summer 2013 for biomass but from August 2011 you can get help with the installation costs through the Renewable Heat Premium Payment Scheme.
